The extensive renovation of the men’s changing rooms at Flamingo Spa was completed on a tight schedule thanks to the seamless collaboration between Kymppirakenne and Vertia. A Critical Phase: Humidity Control in Spa Environments

Renovating washrooms in a spa environment places exceptional demands on moisture control. In the Kymppirakente project, the greatest risks were related to the drying of structures, the adequacy of moisture removal, and the control of conditions when moist air from adjacent spa facilities in use entered the negative-pressure washroom. In addition, organizing humidity measurements and ensuring rapid access to results were essential so that decisions could be made without delay.

“The drying process was a critical phase, as the coating work dictated the timing of all other work phases. The schedule was tight, and there was no room for uncertainty,” says the site foreman Antti Korhonen.

Vertia's solution: effective environmental control and rapid response

Vertia was fully responsible for managing the environmental conditions throughout the project. A wide range of dehumidifiers and fans was used, and conditions were monitored continuously. Additional equipment was brought to the site as needed to ensure that the drying process proceeded according to schedule.

Condition control included:
