Air tightness and moisture measurements build trust as part of Kastelli’s quality assurance
Kastelli is a home builder with a long history and Finland’s best-selling home brand. Kastelli places particular emphasis on the reliability and high quality of the homes it builds. The importance of quality assurance is constantly growing, and it helps build trust with customers. As part of Kastelli’s quality assurance, Vertia conducts airtightness and moisture measurements.
Kastelli offers a wide range of home designs, and the floor plans can be highly customized to ensure that your new home meets your needs as closely as possible.
– Our customers range from individual families to construction companies that order houses from us. Through construction companies, several houses may be built on the same lot. However, the majority of our customers are private individuals, says Kastelli’s project manager Iiro Tikka.

Iiro Tikka from Kastelli and Kari Korpela from Vertia are familiar faces on the construction site when measurements are being taken.
The importance of quality assurance is growing
Safe and healthy homes are a matter of pride for Kastelli. Quality assurance is carried out at every stage of the construction process.
– Quality assurance starts with contractor orientation. We also have work phase cards that guide our operations. In addition, of course, there are the airtightness and moisture measurements conducted by Vertia. Vertia performs airtightness measurements for us on projects that are ready for occupancy, and floor moisture measurements, "so we know when the floors can be laid," says Tikka.
– Quality assurance plays a major and growing role. It builds trust among customers when measurements are taken and quality is verified. For example, leak test measurements "This tells us that the building envelope is airtight and has been properly constructed," Tikka continues.
The measurement results will be available as early as the next day
Vertian Kari Korpela has been working as a surveyor for a long time. Over the years, he has conducted numerous airtightness and moisture measurements at Kastelli sites. All of Vertia’s surveyors are certified.
– If we start from the very beginning, the first thing I do when I arrive at the site is to give it a visual inspection and make sure it’s ready for measurements. After that, I put the fixtures in place and seal the drains and all the holes in the exterior envelope. I check that the windows and doors are closed. When everything is ready, I pressurize the building, "I use a thermal camera to locate any air leaks and then test the building's airtightness," Korpela sums up.
Following the inspection, a final report is prepared for Kastelli and is usually delivered the very next day. The report includes findings from the airtightness test and leak detection, which also includes the thermal images taken. The reports indicate any leaks and their locations, marked on floor plans, as well as the measured air leakage rate.
“We provide our clients with reliable measurements and solid statistical analysis. In my view, Vertia’s strengths lie in its extensive experience and self-direction,” Korpela notes.
A nationwide and constantly evolving partner
Vertia has been collaborating with Kastelli for several years now. Kastelli particularly values the fact that Vertia is a nationwide company that is constantly evolving. Vertia is also recommended to customers for whom Kastelli does not directly perform airtightness and moisture measurements.
“Vertia has been an excellent, high-quality partner for us. They’re very cooperative. Things have gone smoothly, and our partnership continues,” Tikka says.
“From my perspective, too, our collaboration with Kastelli has gone well. For example, if I need to get in touch with a project manager, I can reach the right person quickly. I think everything is working really well for both sides,” Korpela sums up.
