The home builders recognized as the most efficient in 2025 were honored

Vertia, a Finnish company specializing in ensuring housing quality, recognized the homebuilders that delivered the most airtight homes in 2024. Last year, Vertia conducted airtightness tests on approximately 1,300 new single-family homes, representing about 35 percent of the single-family homes built during that period.

Selection criteria for airtightness comparison

The airtightness comparison included home builders for whom Vertia had conducted airtightness measurements on at least ten single-family homes in 2024. An additional requirement was that the measured properties had to represent a significant portion of that homebuilder’s single-family home deliveries. The ranking was determined by the average air leakage rate of the measured homes.

The awards ceremony was held on Friday, January 25, at the Rakenna & Remontoi trade fair in Vantaa. At the start of the event, Vertia CEO Topi Jokinen spoke about the importance of airtightness in modern construction. Jokinen emphasized how home builders have focused on improving quality, which is reflected in improved airtightness results across the entire industry.

Highlights of 2024

Kiiruna Talot stood out as a particular success story. ”When construction is carried out in a controlled manner in a factory setting from start to finish, it is possible to achieve exceptionally high quality. Kiiruna Talot’s operations demonstrate that precise planning and controlled execution consistently produce high quality,” Jokinen explains. Jokinen emphasizes, however, that the differences among the top contenders in the competition were extremely small.

A general trend in the construction industry is also evident: ”Air-tightness has clearly been better this year than in previous years. This is mainly due to the lower volume of construction and the high level of professionalism among builders. The ongoing development efforts of home builders are also behind this progress.”
